This is an easy version of the commercial magic trick. Blow up a party balloon and with a small pin, you puncture the balloon... but it doesn't pop!
The secret? Blow up a round party balloon. It should be about 12" in diameter. Tie it off. You also need a straight pin, a diaper pin, or a hat pin. I get extra laughs by using the diaper pin.
Take some clear tape (Scotch Brand, etc.) and on the side opposite the knot, place a small square of tape on the nipple or thick part of the balloon. You might also put a piece on the side of the balloon.
Holding the balloon in one hand and the pin in the other push the pin into the balloon through the piece of tape. You will find that the balloon will not pop as the tape keeps the air in.
You may want to find the longest type of pin you can, but make sure it's not too thick.
Feeling adventurous? Try sticking the pin into the nipple of the balloon without the tape. The trick works this way too and is even more amazing. I like to have a volunteer inspect and inflate the balloon, that way they know it is not gimmicked.
