The Right Brush For A Beautiful Hair Style

Guest Author - Brandi Ford

Using the correct brush for your hair is essential. With all the different types of brushes on the shelf it can be a difficult choice. The right brush will make a big difference in the style you want to create. When you are looking for a brush it is helpful to know what it will do for your style.

The Denman brush is also called the classic brush. It is a half round brush and the head is usually made of rubber. Using this brush creates a smooth sleek look that is not stick straight.

The round brush is used to bend the hair and will give your hair full volume. These brushes can be made with different materials, but the best is the thermal round brush. It is designed with an aluminum core that heats up while you are blow drying. This causes your hair to dry in less time. I love this brush because once you master the techniques the styling possibilities are endless.

A vented brush is a hard brush that has wide spaced bristles There is air vents in the head of the brush. This brush is used to give you maximum airflow when blow drying your hair which creates movement in your hair style. It usually has rounded tips on the bristles to protect the hair from damage. If you find any of the tips missing you should replace the brush.

For long sleek, smooth, straight hair try the flat cushioned brush. This brush is designed for long hair and it will collapse when it encounters tangles. The reason for this is so that it will not break or split your hair.

One more thing to consider is the bristles themselves. There are many kind of bristles. Natural bristles are made of natural hair, usually boars hair and is used for smoothing the hair and will distribute the natural oils from the head down the hair shaft. It is also great to use on children. The synthetic bristles are man made and can cause static in the hair. A metal bristle brush should never be used on human hair. A porcupine brush is not made of porcupine quills; it is called this because the bristles are grouped together. These groupings may be a combination of synthetic and natural bristles.

Slowly start adding in different types of brushes and experiment with them. You may surprise yourself and create a new look.
