The love affair between Chelsea Brady and Dr. Daniel Jonas began like any other supercouple storyline. The handsome hero saves the damsel. However, this love was short lived and the two are unlikely to reach supercouple status in the future.

Victor Kiriakas, summoned Dr. Daniel Jonas, his Godson, to Salem University Hospital, in a frantic effort to save his son’s life. The carefree doctor arrived on the scene shocking loved ones with his young looks and cocky attitude. He was a misunderstood beach bum who had some hard knocks and preferred to live his life floating from place to place, never laying down long enough to create any lasting relationships.

Enter Chelsea Brady: The one girl in Salem who understands the young doctors’ vernacular. He is immediately impressed. The two exchange biting comments on occasion causing the attraction between the two to intensify. Chelsea immediately realizes her true feelings for the edgy doc, but works hard at keeping them concealed. She must first save her father’s life. She is the only matching person who is able to donate part of her pancreas to him. Daniel performs the successful surgery leading Chelsea to become even more smitten with him. She sees him as her hero. Not long after, Chelsea becomes ill with a serious infection. It is at this pivotal moment, that Daniel realizes Chelsea’s deep feelings for him and he begins to consider the possibility of a relationship with her.

He tells her that they are not right for one another. He tells her that he is too old for her. Then he finally tells her that he can never love again. His one great love and patient, died in his arms. He could not save her and he did not deserve to love ever again. He committed himself to a life of solitude.

There are two certainties: Everyone needs to love and to be loved. Dr. Jonas’ rugged façade is no different. He eventually gives in to temptation despite heated exchanges between Chelsea’s overprotective father Bo, and grandfather, Victor. It seemed as if this love would blossom, until it is revealed that Kate and Daniel had previously had a sexual encounter. Both agree that Chelsea must never know. She has already had to overcome the discovery that her boyfriend Nick slept with her mother. Kate knew how Chelsea felt about Daniel from the very beginning. Finding out that her grandmother betrayed her would be an unforgiveable act.

As with anything in life, the truth will always be revealed in time. And it was. Chelsea, grown up and mature, took the news rather well. She has decided to move on – or back to Nick. Only time will tell if he accepts her back into his arms. As for Daniel and Kate, well, we shall see.
