This week, I will be reviewing Verizon Wireless cell phones. Verizon’s service covers a very broad area and my service package is reasonably priced. I have only experienced excellent customer service when I’ve had problems with my phone. However, I have had problems, as has a friend with a Verizon phone.

First, reception in many local areas is very limited with my phone. You shouldn’t have to stand unmoving in one spot with your head at a 45 degree angle to make a call. However, my friend and I have experienced exactly this problem.

Also, Verizon seems to have an unnecessarily complicated phone menu. It took quite some time for us to get up to speed on all of the functions and options, and we are not new cell phone users.

Finally, we both had a problem with our phones constantly hanging up on us. With a quick call to a very helpful customer service rep, I found out my phone needed to be re-programmed and the rep was able to walk me through this over the phone. My friend also had a good experience with the rep who helped him reprogram his phone. Unfortunately, my phone has been hanging up on me quite a lot lately, so it seems that the problem has re-appeared.

I give Verizon two and 1/2 out of four stars for their cellular service. Overall, I experienced good customer service and my bills aren’t outrageous. However, I’d like to see better reception and fewer problems with the phones.
