Ava Vitali seems to be a very complex character. She’s a woman from Steve’s past, is from a crime family, was successful in the business world and from what we’ve seen in the many flashbacks was sane. What happened to change that?

I can’t believe that Steve leaving her has left her in the condition she’s in now. I’m thinking there’s something farther beneath the surface happening here. Let’s look at the facts as we have them at this time.

She was in love with Steve/Patch. She wanted to marry him and the day of the wedding he left. He first thought he left on his own and ran away. Now we see that he was remembering his wedding to Kayla, was going to go back and say goodbye to Ava when he was abducted.

Ava was so upset she was outside the chapel and crying. She doesn’t remember anything next except that she was in an ambulance being taken to a hospital where she stayed for a long time. When she was released her father took her home and locked her in her room where she’s been held for years.

When Hope was snooping around the room she found a scrapbook with news articles of Ava’s accomplishments in the corporate world.

Ava has scars on her wrists and there have been hints that she tried to kill herself but nobody’s said anything definite.

Steve was held prisoner by the DiMera’s and he’d escaped.

I’m now beginning to think Steve was taken by the DiMera’s and they tried to remove these memories from him as well as the other’s from his past.

Ava didn’t really try to kill herself. Her father for some reason had her brainwashed into thinking she did. There’s something he doesn’t want her to know. Whey else would he have her locked up with no contact with the outside world. She mentioned she doesn’t have access to a phone, television or computer. Why? What are they afraid she’ll find out or do?

Then there’s the issue of Ava’s headaches and mood swings. What’s with those? Did she really have a breakdown, attempt suicide and is now a nutcase or is she suffering from something else like a brain tumor or other unknown or unexplained illness? What is daddy keeping from her and why. Is her psychiatrist on daddy’s payroll and keeping her this way?

I guess we’ll have to wait and see how this plays out but while it does I’m keeping my eyes and ears open looking for the subtle clues the writers have been putting into the show lately.
