Cheap Eats in Japan - Matsuya and Yoshinoya Fast Food
Guest Author - Taisha Turner

Looking for an alternative inexpensive dining experience while in Japan, try the local fast food chains. Matsuya and Yoshinoya fast food dining chains which serve traditional Japanese food are available, both offer meals for the tourist or expatriate on a budget. Not on a budget, still try the unique dining experience.

Don’t speak Japanese, no problem. There is a picture of every menu item for sale. Find the picture of your desired meal. The pictures and prices are on the ticket vending machine. Pay the indicated price and push the corresponding button. A ticket is dispensed along with change if applicable.

Take your ticket(s) to a table and sit. In moments, a smiling wait staff member will come for a ticket(s). Again, in a matter of moments, the wait staff member will serve a cheap and hot, delicious meal.

It is as simple as that. No Japanese is spoken. At Matsuya and Yoshinoya dining chains, the entire process is quick and as satisfying as the meal.

The meals average cost is 400 yen(US$4.00). A medium bowl of beef and rice is 390 yen. Also, there are chicken, vegetable and tempura with rice to name a few combinations.

Yoshinoya is the largest fast food dining chain in Japan with locations in Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Philippines and certain states in America, so travelers from those areas may be familiar with the dining chain’s menu. Matsuya fast food chain is the second largest. Tourist and/or expatriate enjoy the cheap eats in Japan!

Travel and holiday photographs cluttering the place? Leather or fabric albums are good choice to organize them. Select archival albums with acid-free paper and archival glue and photo corners. Check for PVC-free plastic, if pages are magnetic.
