If you are looking for a great educational and fun show that will teach your children about the solar system may I suggest, Zula Patrol which is a favorite at our house. My two girls love to watch Zula Patrol each week, and can hardly wait for the new episode to be recorded on our DVR.
Because I homeschool, I use this show as a supplement to learning about the solar system. It is put together very well and very informative. And since it’s been years since I studied the solar system and I confess I didn’t pay attention as well as I should have, this is a great way to help me plan my lessons about space without a lot of headache. Best of all my girls retain the facts that they learn on the show for far longer than drilling the facts into them. I also find myself remembering things I forgot I knew and even learning new facts myself! Whether your children attend school or not this show is a must see.
With fun alien characters to teach them and keep the story moving, it’s no wonder that Zula Patrol is able to keep their attention. There is the energetic green captain named Bula, and you can’t have a space ship without a pilot which brings us to the purple top-notch pilot Zeeter. And what ship would complete without an absent-minded scientist, Zula Patrol has Multo, and then there is the Gorga, Bula’s hyperactive green puppy. This then brings us to the cosmic pair, Wizzy and Wigg, whom are two tiny flying aliens that can travel at the speed of light!
Along with teaching our children about the solar system Zula Patrol also has an underlying message that will help build our children’s characters. Teaching personal development is a main goal for the Zula Patrol, learning to persevere to reach your goals and believing in yourself, are just a couple of ways the show reaches that goal. Whether learning to see the best in others or learning that you won’t always agree with your friends and that’s okay as long as you resolve the disagreements through communication, the Zula patrol will be there helping to teach your children how to interact with others. They also teach the ever important lessons of, not judging others by the way they look and that you can always ask others for help with your problems. The Zula Patrol is constantly encouraging the children to learn whether it’s through trial and error or reading it’s always good to try new and different things. Of course last but certainly not least is the overall lesson that you should do good things just for the sake of doing good things.
Overall Zula Patrol does an excellent job of teaching about the solar system as well as the character traits we as parents hope to instill in our children.
