Anna Nalick - The Singer, Her Story

Anna Nalick's great sense of humor shines in the interview she granted me. Here's a small snapshot of the singer, the woman, Anna Nalick.

Q: How long have you been singing?
A: I've been singing for as long as I've been talking, but I grew a bit shy in my early teenage years.

Q: Who writes your songs and if you do, what inspires you?
A: I write my songs in their entirety and I draw inspiration from all sorts of things. The songs on Wreck Of The Day are thematically based on human emotion.

Q: Overall, how are you feeling about your latest CD?
A: I'm very proud of Wreck Of The Day because it is completely true to myself. I'm allowed to be brutally honest in my songwriting.

Q: What challenges, if any, did you face getting the CD put together?
A: I've been writing music since I was a little girl, so by the time I got into the studio I had years of songs to choose from. Of course, I had to limit my choices; there was a lot to condense into only 11 songs.

Q: What kind of advice would you give aspiring singers?
A: Use your talents at every given opportunity and do it because it makes you happy.

Q: If you had your own reality TV show, what would be the name of it and why?
A: Good question. If I had my own reality TV show, it would be called "Lexi Lucy Josephine" and it would be unsolicited 24-hour footage of my cat Lexi. I'm no fun to watch, but my Lexi's a little fluffy drama queen.

Q: If I were to go to your stereo, whose CDs would I find in it?
A: In my stereo Keane, Five For Fighting, The Mooney Suzuki, Billie Holiday, and Frou Frou.

Q: Please share with BellaOnline your favorite performance experience.
A: My favorite performance of all time is still the concert my High School rock band, Uphoria, played when I was a senior. This particular show was for the local Catholic all-boys school Battle of the Bands. We came in second place, but the football players, who wouldn't talk to me freshman year, rushed the stage and were asking for kisses on the cheek.

Thank you Anna for such a lively interview. I wish you continued success with your career. I’ll be listening (smile).

Anna Nalick's WRECK OF THE DAY will be released on April 19, 2005, so mark your calendars.
