Super Bowl XLII Preview – Patriots vs. Giants
Guest Author - Kori Ellis

Want to know what is going to happen in Super Bowl XLII when the New England Patriots and the New York Giants square off? I'll pull out my crystal football and look into the future . . .

First Quarter
The Giants win the coin toss and elect to receive the ball. New York begins the game by running Brandon Jacobs and few times and then Eli Manning completes a key third down pass. The Giants drive all the way down the field with the help of a couple catches by Plaxico Burress. Although they get close to the endzone, they have to settle for a Lawrence Tynes field goal.

The Patriots get the ball back and start off with a Tom Brady in the shotgun and five receivers. After moving the ball decently, the Patriots will be forced to punt after the Giants pressure Brady into throwing the ball away on third down.

The Giants will get the ball back and will get a nice return to get good field position. Ahmad Bradshaw will come in for Jacobs and will rip off a big run. The Giants will again come close to scoring a touchdown but will settle for a field goal and a 6-0 lead.

The Patriots and Giants will trade punts for the next few possessions until the Patriots are able to get a field goal near the end of the first quarter. At the end of the first quarter the Giants will be up 6-3.

Second Quarter
The Giants will get the ball and will mount another impressive drive. However, a Manning pass will get tipped and he'll be intercepted for the first time in the playoffs. The Patriots will use the momentum of the turnover and will quickly march down the field. Brady will find Moss on a deep route for a touchdown to give the Patriots a 10-6 lead.

The Giants and Patriots will again trade a few punts until late in the second quarter. With a couple minutes to go before halftime, Brady will find a streaking Donte Stallworth who will break a tackle and score a long touchdown to put the Patriots up 17-6 heading into halftime.

Third Quarter
The Giants will start the second half by finally getting to Brady. New York will force a fumble from Brady and get the ball in great field position. On the first play, Manning will hook up with Burress for a touchdown to pull the Giants to within four points at 17-13.

However, the Patriots will then respond with a long, time consuming drive that will end with a Laurence Maroney eight yard touchdown run. On the Giants' next possession, the Patriots will force another turnover. Brady again will capitalize by hooking up with Moss for a touchdown. At this point the Patriots will be up 31-13.

There will be a few more punts until the Patriots kick a field goal to go up 34-13 heading into the final quarter.

Fourth Quarter
With the Giants unable to mount any sort of drive, the game will be all but decided with half the fourth quarter still to play. The talk will be whether these Patriots are the best football team of all-time. The announcers will agree that the Patriots are in fact the best football team ever.

The game will harmlessly end and Brady will be named the Super Bowl's MVP.
