Enthusiasm is running high at Foxit Software with the early introduction of eSlick eBook Reader. eSlick is the newest product to join the eBook Reader market and it is currently doing so with prices well below Sony and Amazon! With an introductory price of $225 ~ between a $130-$180 savings! ~ you will find it difficult to say no. Priced for the interested buyer who desires to learn whether eBook Readers are right for them.

Foxit Software, based in Fremont, CA, is the manufacturer of the eSlick Reader. Beginning in 2000, Foxit Software began focusing on the electronic publishing market and built a library of products focusing on PDF technology. Entering into the eBook Reader marker is an exhilarating step for Foxit Software. The introduction model ‘eSlick' promises to remain an affordable entry level product for eBook readers with higher end models expected in the future.

eSlick includes a built in MP3 player so you can not only read eBooks, you can easily listen to audio books. With it's 0.4" thick design you will find it fits comfortably in your hand, just like your PDA. Views eBooks in pdf format only, however other eBook formats should be available soon. It has 128M internal memory with a 2 GB SD card allowing you to store 1000's of eBooks in the eSlick library. Memory can be easily expanded to 4 GB SD. E-Ink technology is used for high screen resolution reducing eye strain. eSlick also comes with PDF reflow capability giving the reader a superior reading experience.

Foxit's superior PDF generation and viewing technology software comes with each eSlick, enabling the readers to view their favorite newspapers, magazines and novels in PDF format with one easy click of a button. TXT, PPT, DOC, XLS and HTML documents can be instantly converted and downloaded in less than one minute using Foxit's PDF generation and viewing technology. Documents become just like eBooks and can be readily accessed and viewed at any given time. A zooming feature is part of the viewing technology allowing readers to magnify the page size from 50% to 400%. Choosing the page size is no real problem with Foxit's software while in the reflow mode. If the reader chooses a 200% page size while in the reflow mode the text will be automatically reorganized to fit the chosen 200% screen size.

Personally, I have not seen the eSlick as shipping is expected to begin by the end of January. To receive the introductory price of $229.99 you must place a prepaid order.
