Robert Montgomery on Turner Classic Movies (TCM)

Monday nights in January are Robert Montgomery nights on Turner Classic Movies (TCM), where you can catch 49 of his 63 movies.
Robert Montgomery was born May 21, 1904 as Henry Montgomery Jr. (III) and passed away on September 27, 1981 in the same state he was born in New York. Robert was the father of Elizabeth Montgomery (Bewitched and movies) a famous actress in her own right.
Robert got his first roll in the big screen with MGM in the movie So This Is College (1929). His first leading roll was in Private Lives (1931).
Robert was President of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) during 1936-1938 and 1946-1947). Robert stayed with MGM for sixteen years and that was only interrupted when during WWII he served and earned the rank of U.S.N.R. Commander. Robert stood in for director John Ford when he came ill, during filming of They Were Expendable (1945) (uncredited as assistant director)
