Duck Sliders Recipe

Duck Sliders Recipe
Mini burger buns filled with slices of Peking duck, cucumber, and green onion; and seasoned with hoisin sauce is a fun new take on the traditional slider recipe. These duck sliders are a perfect treat for any party and they are simple to make if you use the pre made Peking duck that can be found at most Asian markets.

12 to 15 mini burger buns
5 to 7 lb. Peking duck – premade
1 medium cucumber
5 green onions
Hoisin sauce

  1. Pre made Peking duck can be found in most Chinese grocery stores. If you decide to make your own duck you can follow the directions found here. When using the store bought premade duck simply pre heat the oven to 300 and cook it for 20 minutes and then turn the heat up to 325 for another 10 minutes.

  2. While the duck is heating, prepare the other ingredients. Peel the cucumber and then cut it in half lengthwise. Then using a spoon, scoop out the seeds and slice each half into thin “half moon” slices and set them aside.

  3. Rinse the green onions under cold running water and dry them thoroughly. Then cut off the ends and discard, and dice the remaining stalks.

  4. Next take the mini burger buns and spread a thin layer of hoisin on each side. You can use more or less sauce depending on your guest’s tastes. Hoisin sauce can usually be found in most local grocery stores in the ethnic section and in Chinese grocery stores. If you can‘t find this sauce you can also use duck sauce as well.

  5. Once the burger buns are prepared, check the duck. It should be heated through by now. Remove it from the oven and slice it in about ¼ inch slices. Keep in mind that this doesn’t have to be perfect since the slices are going on sandwiches, but try to keep a piece of the skin on each slice. You can also slice the skin separately if you wish and place it on top of the meat as you make the sandwiches as well.

  6. Once the meat is sliced, make the sandwiches. Simply place a couple slices of cucumber, a few slices of meat with the skin, and a few diced green onions on each slider. Then they are ready to serve, enjoy!
