The Smell of Coffee

The Smell of Coffee
Everyone loves the smell of coffee. Many people who don’t even drink coffee tell me this. It signals that rich desserts are available. It’s a feeling of socializing, having fun, getting a break, waking us up in the morning. And it is not our imagination either. According to a study cited in the American Chemical Society Journal, the smell alone can create changes in the body that are normally brought about by drinking. It goes on to say, “In conclusion, the roasted coffee bean aroma changes the mRNA and protein expression levels of the rat brain, providing for the first time clues to the potential antioxidant or stress relaxation activities of the coffee bean aroma.”

In another article called “Heavy Scents Hinder Home Sales”, author Joel Nash suggests that the smell of coffee, amongst a few others like baked goods, can actually help you sell your home. It is a popular belief amongst the real estate set that smells of coffee and baked goods help a potential home buyer to see themselves in the home.

Who knew that a scent could do so much? Evidently many people because coffee-scented products abound, right up there with the latest fragrances from signature designers like Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren.

Here are a few products available:

While coffee scented candles abound, there are many other products that will help you to keep that signature coffee scent with you wherever you go. Like coffee-scented shampoo, shower gel, and bubble baths available at Sephora. According to Sephora, “These ultra-rich formulas offer a calorie and caffeine-free way to jumpstart the day with a heavenly-scented, rich, foaming lather.” They go on to say, “The Coffee House contains three 6 oz bottles of caramel mocha latte, eggnog latte, and café au lait high-foaming shampoo, shower gel, and bubble baths. It's a fun, seasonal gift for someone you know who loves delicious coffee scents.”
