Healthy Chinese Recipes for the Fall


The arrival of fall has brought about the cooking and eating of warm comfort foods. Though most of fall and winterís delicious meals usually carry a high fat, high calorie count, that doesnít always have to be the case. Here are some delicious, warm Chinese recipes for the fall that are light in both fat and calories, yet heavy on flavor and satisfaction.

Clay Pot Chicken and Rice Recipe
White meat chicken combined with shiitake mushrooms and jasmine rice makes the perfect warm and healthy meal for these oncoming cold days. This is a great recipe for either lunch or dinner, and using just a teaspoon of frying oil, it has little added fat and lots of satisfying flavor.

Chinese Steamed Apricot Fish Recipe
Here, whole trout is steamed and then topped with a delicious apricot sauce. The sauce in this recipe is made with apricot preserves which does have some calories, though you can substitute a low calorie or low sugar version to make this dish even healthier. Then serve it with sides of steamed mixed vegetables and white rice for a complete, healthy, and delicious meal.

Steamed Ginger Salmon Recipe
One of my familyís favorite recipe is this steamed ginger salmon. This is a quick and easy dish to make that uses just three simple ingredients. Skinless salmon, soy sauce, and sliced ginger. Served on top of white rice with a side of steamed broccoli, this makes a very healthy meal.

Chinese Crock Pot Garlic Chicken Recipe
Using a crock pot makes this dish super easy as well as healthy. White meat chicken, carrots, and celery are cooked in a delicious garlic sauce. Served with a side of white rice makes a simple complete and healthy dinner.

Healthy Egg Foo Young Recipe
Since brunch has become a popular weekend event, why not try making a healthy version at home. Instead of going out for a heavy, though just as delicious eggs Benedict, try this healthy egg foo young recipe. Made with egg whites and vegetables, and topped with a low/no fat gravy, this dish delivers a deliciously satisfying flavor. Itís perfect for any homemade brunch.
