Captain America

Steve Rogers is determined to join the military as America heads into World War II. After being rejected several times, his luck changes when he meets Dr. Erskine who picks Rogers to be part of his secret research that helps to alter the scrawny young man into a hero with superhuman abilities. Now it’s up to the new Captain America to defeat Johann Schmidt aka Red Skull and his own secret plans know as HYDRA. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching “Captain America”.

· Dr. Erskine is explaining to Steve Rogers about Johann Schmidt and the serum. When Steve says “Thanks, I think!”, the doctor motions towards the glasses and picks up the bottle of wine. In the view of the two of them, Dr. Erskine’s left hand is holding the bottle of wine by the neck. It cuts to a front view of him (a left/rear view of Steve) where he’s still pouring the wine but his left hand is now holding the mid section of the bottle, not the neck.

· Steve and Agent Carter are in the car and he’s pointing out the places where he’s been beaten up. When they get out of the car and are on the sidewalk, she says “this way” and they walk to the front of Brooklyn Antiques. After he asks “What are we doing here?”, she tells him “follow me”. In the close-up he begins to raise his arms to put his hat on his head. It cuts to a farther front view of the storefront and Steve raises his arms to put his hat on again.

· When the Nazi spy steals the yellow taxi cab and drives off, the rear license plate is on the left side of the vehicle. Captain America is chasing him and the close-up of the spy shows him turn his head and look over his right shoulder. It cuts to an outside view of the cab, a front close-up of the spy and then back to the car. The cab then swerves and the rear view of the vehicle shows the rear license plate is on the right side. (Right before Captain America jumps on the old man’s car.) The plate is back on the left in other views.

· Colonel Phillips is questioning Dr. Zola after he’s been captured. The front view of the Colonel, as he starts to cut into the steak, shows the broccoli at his right hand and potatoes on his left. But when he slides the paper over to Dr. Zola, the front view of Colonel Phillips now shows the broccoli and potatoes have switched places. Also the salt and pepper shakers have switched from being at the edge of the tray (closer to Dr. Zola) to being in front of Colonel Phillips. (A back/side view of the Colonel as the doctor is reading the letter shows him use one of the shakers and in the next close-up everything is back to where it originally was.)

“Captain America” (2011) stars Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Tommy Lee Jones, Hugo Weaving, Dominic Cooper, Toby Jones, Stanley Tucci and Samuel L. Jackson. It runs 124 minutes and is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action.
