Shopping is fun in the USA
I hate to shop, I know, weird woman! But I don’t like it. And now since going to see Andrew and Annika in the US I prefer shopping with Annika. Maybe I had no company to shop cause of having only sons. Or maybe cause my husband likes going to many shops before deciding. But, I just go to five places in Bangalore to shop. Tanishq, Fazals, Homestop, Garuda Mall and Lalbagh for plants.
However, a whole new way of looking at shopping was opened up for me by my Daughter in law. Never mind if we have the little one in tow, but any shopping expedition is fun.
We don’t go to the big branded malls, but we do buy only branded stuff. Even if it’s Christmas decorations or slippers! There are these enormous stores which stock all kinds of clothes which are branded and yet less than a third of the price. So, I go with empty suitcases and come back struggling to get the bags onto the carousels!
Even shoes are a great buy in the US. Again, we go to the discount stores where all the running and walking and party shoes I want are available and again very reasonably priced. Being diabetic I need to get good brands which are comfortable and are careful with my feet, so I buy Sketchers and Dr Schols there for everyday use and Reeboks and Adidas for my jogs.
Then moving to sports wear. The choice is unimaginable. Every time I go I come back with branded sports bras and stretch leggings and ofcourse ankle socks. A whole pack of ankle socks for 3 $? Yes, the US is the biggest shoppers paradise ever.
What Annika will say just load the trolley and we will go try them on. Take only those that fit well. So we will both go with a massive load and laugh and giggle in adjoining changing rooms, and yell over the door come see and we pirouette for one another! Finally I take maybe three or four garments and Annika takes 10! Ofcourse through it all Alaina will sit on the floor and play with the hangers or the labels singing away to herself. Or, if I am done quickly, we go out and we play hide and seek through this massive store!
For some reason she calls the clothes stands' tree houses' and climbs in under the clothes and hides. One lady got a good scare when she came out of one thinking it was me saying 'Boo' to scare me!
Then Annika is hungry enough to want to eat. I would rather not as everything is too rich but she gets a portion of some meat which is fine for me and then we sit and enjoy watching the lil one eat her warm Pretzel.
Then we waft in and out of Candle shops and ofcourse we have to buy something. This time scented stuff for the cars. And the final stop for the day is Bath & Body Works cause we have coupons. I get a wonderful citrusy perfume and a body lotion with the coupons for just 3-4 $ and come out really chuffed.
Guess it takes making free time the base for a good shopping experience plus the price and the quality must be good for me. Which are both available in the USA.
