Dear Old Friend,
It has been ten plus years since our college days. Memories of you and me dance in my head. The laughs we had forever burned into my soul. Sometimes I long for those days with all my heart, cursing the fact that we cannot go back in time. Life with you to enjoy it with felt so good. You made my life simple and fun, and I thank you for that.
So many times I wish I could go back to the moments when you and me danced arm and arm and laughed our heads off.
I know you do too my friend. Please donít be mad that we donít keep in touch that often. Know that you are always in my heart and thoughts, even though we may not talk that often.
I donít have an explanation for the distance between us. I have only come to understand what feels like a mature realization that we are friends that care for one another, but we have gotten older now and live our own separate lives.
We contact each other once in a while to say hello and how are you and its nice. But to expect more than that at this point in life is unrealistic I think. Many years have passed since we were buddies that hung out. Now we are good friends but also old friends.
Life takes people in different directions. Everyone has their own problems to deal with and unfortunately that takes up most peoples time in their lives.
The things that are most appreciated at this point are a nice hello or how are you and an acceptance of loving your friends even though they really are not in your life anymore.
This doesnít mean you donít care about friends or still love them, it just means life throws us in our own directions.
Friends sometimes move farther away from us as we get older, but friends are always in our heart. That is just the way life is. Living in the past is comforting sometimes, and memories are always treasured and never forgotten.
But to be resentful and live in the past for real is just foolish my friend. Its living in the present that matters the most of all.
Live a happy life. Think of me often with love, and know that I am always thinking of you with love too.
And we need to get together soon for some more of those laughs. I miss your face.
