Memorial Day Resource
Memorial Day isn't just a day off from work or school. It is a time to reflect on the sacrifices made by others for our freedom.
Too often Memorial Day is treated as the beginning of barbecue season, rather than a day to commemorate the sacrifices made by US soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines. We honor those who served and died in every military conflict from the Revolutionary War to the current conflict in Iraq.
The White House Commission on Remembrance has establish its website to honor those who have died in service, veterans, and those who continue to serve. The commission's star logo represents the hope and freedom that we share because of the sacrifices of so many.
The website features resources to assist you in your remembrance. Included are links to the song On This Day. There are multiple versions available, lyrics, and sheet music.
