It appears that the movie industry is alive and well in Louisiana. Apparently fascination has spread to St. Bernard Parish too. Because just last week a low-budget film was shot on locations in and around the Violet vicinity.


This production of Spyglass Entertainment's is just one of many done in and around Louisiana. Another CBS tv movie with Lucy Lawless as the star was just
filmed across the river and another project at Chalmette High School, in Chalmette, not long ago.


The reason St. Bernard Parish is attracting film companies from Hollywood is due
in part to the establishment of a new film organization called The St. Bernard
Parish Film Industry Commission. In the last two months, the St. Bernard
Parish Film Industry Commission has managed to promote the "Parish", and
draw the interest of some movie production companies.


The name of the low-budget film that was shot on location in the Docville Oaks
and at Kenilworth Plantation is called "Stay Alive" and its storyline centers
around a video game whose strange of murders somehow come to life in the here
and now. It's up to a group of New Orleans friends to stop what is happening

So St. Bernard Parish is getting equal attention the by the moviemakers for
potential film locations for their projects. Will St. Bernard Parish prove to
have a lot of intriguing pull as does other parts of Louisiana used for
locales in Hollywood fare? One can only wait and see what will transpire?


It should prove to be way fascinating to see if St. Bernard will get more of
Hollywood within its midst. So long as it doesn't interfere with or take away
the old world charm and air of a long bygone era that defines the "Parish".
