Game Night with Children

Game Night with Children
Game night is a fun night as adults get to play their favorite board games. Some times you may have to bring along the kids who may not be of age yet to play board games. Game night can be enjoyed with children.

Before heading out for game night with friends, check to see if other children will be at the venue. This is the number one best solution as other kids will keep each other entertained for hours. You can enjoy your board game without much distraction. If there will not be kids, then there are other solutions.

Make sure to let your child bring some of his/her favorite toys. In fact, you may want to dig deep into the toy chest for a few lost treasures - a former favorite toy forgotten at the bottom of the closet. These toys will be like-new and played with the whole evening.

Bring a portable DVD player or portable video games to keep your children entertained. This is especially handy to have if you are having game night at a location other than someone's house. Kids might grow tired of doing their own thing after a while - so have a plan B ready to be into motion.

Depending on your child's age, he/she may can help you play your turn. If there is dice to be rolled or pawns to be moved, let your child help you out. This will not only keep them occupied but expose them to some of your favorite board games. That way when the kids are old enough to play, they will want to play since they will have some memories of it.

If you enjoy playing a game like Settlers of Catan that has a junior version (Catan Junior) then consider playing the junior version during game night. You still get to play your favorite game while including your kids. Junior versions of games usually play much faster than the adult versions but are still fun.

Game night can still be enjoyable with children who are non-players. Include the kids as much as possible. Take a little time to plan, and everyone will have a great time.
