Nickelodeon Family Fun Comes to Norwegian Gem

Kids - get ready to get slimed! Families can now play like a Norwegian on the Norwegian Gem, the third ship in the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet to offer Nickelodeon activities. Parents and kids cruising on the Norwegian Gem can participate in new experiences with SpongeBob, Patrick, Dora the Explorer, Diego, and other Nickelodeon favorites as they sail away together on an exciting cruise adventure.

Norwegian Cruise Line's Nickelodeon partnership has been very popular with families for almost two years. The Nickelodeon line up on the Norwegian Gem includes some of the popular family events that are available on the Norwegian Jewel and Norwegian Epic, plus a few cool new experiences as well. The Norwegian Gem's home port is New York City, making the cruises easy to reach by car from major cities in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.

Families on every Norwegian Gem cruise will have the opportunity to attend Nickelodeon's new Pajama Jam Character Breakfast. Guests are encouraged to wear their pajamas to the event in the Spinnaker Lounge, where they are treated to a welcome bag filled with surprises and items to be used during the character breakfast. The Nickelodeon team - in pajamas of course - are there to sing and dance while parents and kids enjoy their breakfast. Each child attending the Pajama Jam event receives a keepsake photograph which is included on a complimentary basis as part of the event.

Spontaneous events, such as Splash Mobs, add to the excitement of a Nick cruise on the Norwegian Gem. These impromptu games are full of surprises, with pies, slime and other types of signature Nickelodeon fun. Other activities include Dora's Dance Party, where kids ages six and under can sing and dance to their favorite songs with Dora and the rest of Team Nick. Family vacations are all about making great memories together, and the pictures from these events are guaranteed to be priceless.

All of these fun Nickelodeon events are available on each and every cruise. The Norwegian Gem sails on seven-day Bahamas and Florida voyages from New York City through September 1, 2012. Ports of call on this itinerary include Port Canaveral, Florida (Orlando and area beaches); Great Stirrup Cay (Norwegian's private island) and Nassau, Bahamas - along with three fun-filled days at sea. From September through October 10, 2012, the Norwegian Gem will sail 10-day Eastern Canada and Quebec cruises and a series of nine-day sailings to the Eastern Caribbean. Nickelodeon activities are also available on board the Norwegian Jewel and the Norwegian Epic.

Families are a significant and growing market for Norwegian Cruise Line. Norwegian also recently announced the upgrading and revitalization of their youth program to better meet the needs and interests of family vacationers. This new program is launching on the Norwegian Gem along with the introduction of the Nickelodeon programs. The Norwegian Jewel, Norwegian Star, Norwegian Dawn and Norwegian Epic will have the new youth program onboard by the end of May. The Norwegian Pearl, Jade, Sky, Sun, Spirit, and Pride of America will implement the new youth program by the beginning of September, 2012.
