2005 MTV VMA Awards Recap
Some of the presenters included Missy Elliot, Ciara, Jessica and Ashlee Simpson, Paris Hilton, and Hilary Duff to name a few.
I truly enjoyed the show. To me it was one of the best VMAs in the past few years. Kelly Clarkson won for the Best Female Video and her excitement about winning could be felt. She later won for Best Pop Video. She was already scheduled to perform, but she had no idea that she would actually win an award.
Kanye West, who was dressed to impress, won for Best Male Video. Kanye and Oscar winner Jamie Fox performed “Golddigger” to an excited crowd. Ladies be on the lookout for Jamie Fox’s upcoming album.
One of the surprise performances had me out of my seat. The blast from the past was none other than MC Hammer. “Hammer, how you do it?” He still got the dance moves.
Alicia Keys, dressed in a beautiful gold gown, graciously accepted her award for Best R & B Video.
Shakira had the crowd swaying with her energetic performance.
Multi-talented Missy Elliot along with Ciara won for the Best Dance Video for the song “Lose Control” and Best Hip-Hop Video.
I don’t know if you’ve been following the R Kelly “Trapped in the Closet” episodes, but if you have, R Kelly performed and had a surprise for the audience by adding a new segment to the saga.
Lil’ Kim was a presenter and right before the show aired she mentioned to the one of hosts on the “white carper” that she wanted to thank her fans for all of their support and encouraged them to write to her.
Mariah Carey did an offsite performance with Jermaine Dupree. She started off singing her current hit “Shake It Off” and switched to the remixed version of “We Belong Together.”
Destiny Child tells fans goodbye before announcing the Video of the Year Award (Green Day) with Jamie Fox.
Diddy added a flair to this year’s show. I look forward to seeing what the VMA 2006 will have to offer; but it might be hard to top.
