Queen of Soul rocks the 2005 Lady of Soul Awards
Aretha Franklin, the Queen of Soul, received the Lena Horne Award for outstanding career achievements. Besides receiving an award, she performed her signature song "Respect" and the hit song "Until You Come Back to Me" with Stevie Wonder on the piano.

Amerie was the recepient of the Aretha Franklin Award for Entertainer of the Year. She was thrilled to receive it from the queen of soul herself.

Other award winners were:
Mariah Carey - Best Solo Single and Album for "The Emancipation of Mimi"
Destiny's Child - Best Group Single for "Soldier" and Best Album for "Destiny Fulfilled"
Alicia Keys - Best Song of the Year for "If I Ain't Got You"
Missy Elliott - Best Music Video for "Lose Control" featuring Ciara
Ciara - Best New Artist and Dance Cut for "1, 2 Step"
Dorothy Norwood - Best Gospel Award
