Millions of people around the world use file sharing applications such as Kazaa, iMesh, Morpheus, BearShare, Warez and Limewire. These applications are also known as “P2P” software, meaning “peer-to-peer network”. Although there are many useful features of P2P programs, file sharing applications are known to contain dangerous spyware and annoying adware that can steal personal information and/or cripple a PC.
These days, most spyware is considered to be highly dangerous as it is installs quickly without our knowledge and is designed with malicious and/or illegal purposes in mind. Spyware is used to steal identities, wipe out bank accounts, record our online activity, and hijack our computer systems. Spyware shows virtually no symptoms and is normally only detected and removed if a good anti-spyware software product is used. Most anti-virus programs will not detect and remove spyware.
Adware is becoming just as dangerous as spyware, and is very invasive as well as annoying. Adware is commonly found within free software, and is designed to provide the developer with an income by serving advertisements to users of the freeware. Adware can track your online activity, and monitors things like which sites you visit, how long you stay, what you clicked on, and what you purchased. This information is delivered to the advertiser, who attempts to deliver targeted ads to you in form of pop-up’s, redirected browser pages, new shortcuts, and/or other annoying tactics.
In order to use Kazaa, Morpheus, Limewire, or any other P2P program, the user has to agree to the installation of “advertising supported applications”, commonly referred to as “adware” and/or “spyware. Most peer-to-peer file sharing applications contain dozens of specialized adware and spyware programs, and some file sharing programs contain hundreds.
The spyware and adware that is delivered via P2P programs was designed to work specifically with file sharing applications, and removing it will render the P2P software “unusable”. Regular anti-spyware software will remove a lot of the ad-supported software included with P2P applications, but will cause the software to cease functioning. In order to use your peer-to-peer file sharing software without the ads and danger of spyware, a special type of adware/spyware remover must be used.
P2P Doctor by Mad Z Software is an adware-spyware removal program designed specifically for users of P2P file sharing applications. It will detect and remove all of the advertising-supported software without rendering the P2P application unusable. Many ad-supported applications will try to disable P2P doctor, but an optional choice of running P2P doctor in “stealth” mode will make it invisible to most adware and spyware.
P2P Doctor has won numerous industry awards and is consistently rated high by users at popular download sites download.com and Tucows.com. P2P Doctor costs $15.99, and includes an auto-update feature as well highly rated technical support. It removes all adware and spyware installed by iMesh, Kazaa, Limewire, etc…, blocks popups and banner ads, and contains a P2P history cleaner.
