Finally! A Child Free Dating Service For those “Un-Married No Kids” types, there is finally an online dating service just for you! Launched on August 21, 2005, Joe Pazo came up with the idea for Dinklink (derived from the phrase “Double Income No Kids”) five years ago. “I was incredibly frustrated with my own pursuit of a ‘dinklink’ and decided to look around online,” says Joe. “I was amazed to see the dating sites at the time basically ignoring people like me. I mean sure, most offered little check boxes in the profile section to the effect of 'do you want kids?' or 'do you have kids?' Both were typically buried near the bottom. For me, these were two of the most important things.” Joe knew he had a great idea, but he also knew he couldn’t do it alone. “The most challenging aspect for me was finding a competent web developer who I could trust with my secret plan.” Luckily, his good friend Sean Sutherland had just become involved in some very complex web development for his job. He agreed to come on board and the two formed an alliance. Sean would handle all of the technical aspects of breathing life into Dinklink.com, while Joe would be responsible for marketing and the business side of things. When asked what challenges the child free community faces, Joe said, “Perhaps a better question would be 'what challenges don't we face?' I mean, there's the general social ostracizing that comes with making the 'selfish' choice of remaining child-free. From my perspective, there's no shame in selfishness. It's especially ironic since many of the child free people I know are also very socially conscious. They're able to devote time (and money) to volunteering, charitable work, etc, that would be impossible if they were parents.” These issues are especially present in the child free singles scene. “From a dating perspective specifically, the biggest challenge I've seen is the perception that being child-free is some sort of a 'phase' you go through that could be changed by the 'right' person,” says Joe. “But being child-free is a lifelong commitment, and something we don't take lightly.” Joe hopes to help people make child free connections that will hopefully blossom into a meaningful relationship. “Dinklink will give everyone a head start on their childfree search,” he says. “Every single member on our site is making their feelings about having children plainly known. It takes the guesswork out of the equation, and in my opinion makes everyone on the site that much more appealing. You know right off the bat you have something very important in common with everyone else.” It is easy to join. “Registering on the site only takes about five minutes, and allows you to post your profile, along with up to three pictures of yourself,” says Joe. “When you're ready to communicate with other members, you can take the next step and ‘Join.’ We offer monthly memberships for $7.99 and three month memberships are an even better deal at just $15.99 (it's like getting a month for free). Once you've joined, you can send a message to anyone on the site, and check your own messages as well. All of the correspondence is handled on Dinklink.com, so you don't have to worry about someone getting your email address until you're ready to give it to them yourself.” Joe believes finding the right online dating service is critical to finding Mr. or Ms. Right. “There are literally thousands of dating sites out there. I'd encourage everyone to think about the type of person they'd like to meet,” he says. “Most of the sites tend to follow a 'one size fits all' mentality. They may have millions of members to choose from, but if only a tiny fraction of those members share your principles and goals, how difficult will it be to sift through them all?” One caveat: As with any internet communication, it is always important to exercise caution when setting up face to face meetings or giving out personal information. Remember common sense when you meet someone for the first time. Always arrange to meet in a public place. Tell someone else where you are going. Leave instructions with a friend to contact police if you aren’t back by a certain time. Always bring your own transportation so you can get away quickly if you have to. Don’t put yourself in a dangerous position, and always trust your gut. If something doesn’t feel right, get away from the situation. So if you’re still looking for that soul mate who doesn’t want kids, why not check out Dinklink? Child free bliss may be right around the corner!
