Turkey MotoGP 2005
Alex Barros will take part in this race but Loris Capirossi is still recovering from his crash in Australia for the Inaugural Turkey MotoGP. Sete Gibernau was on pole with Marco Melandri and Nicky Hayden filling the front row of the grid, followed by Valentino Rossi, Colin Edwards and Toni Elias. Valentino Rossi had a bad start and ended up eighth at Turn 1 but recovered to move through the field. Marco Melandri flew past Sete Gibernau to take the lead, Sete Gibernau's season of bad luck continues as he ran off on Lap 6, he rejoined the race and got back up to fourth place by the end of the race. Max Biaggi's horror season continued as he qualified twelth on the grid and finished his 200th consecutive race start in the same position.
Shinichi Ito, the replacement rider for Loris Capirossi on the Ducati, was black flagged for a jump start and not realising that he had a penalty ride through. I don't know how that will work for the next race at Valencia, whether Ducati would be allowed to field another rider or if Loris Capirossi has recovered enough to return, as it's a rider penalty not a team penalty.
Marco Melandri pulled away leaving Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden to battle for second place. Marco Melandri won the race for his first Motogp class win, Valentino Rossi in second and Nicky Hayden taking the final berth on the podium.
