A new 16-episode season of Law & Order: Criminal Intent will debut on USA Network on November 7 - when Academy Award and Emmy nominee Jeff Goldblum will join the cast.
Goldblum will play Detective Zach Nichols who was born and bred in New York City, particularly the Upper West Side.
Known for his distinctive style and quirkiness, Goldblum has made name for himself in both movies and television.
Goldblum's long list of film credits include roles in some of the highest grossing films of all time, including Jurassic Park and Independence Day.
Other film credits include The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Nine Months, Annie Hall, The Big Chill, Silverado, The Floy, The Right Stuff, Between the Lines, Invasion of the Body Snatchers and more.
In 2007, Goldblum returned to series television for the first time since 1980 (Tenspeed and Brown Shoe) as the lead in the NBC drama Raines. That same year he garnered an Emmy nomination for his guest appearance on NBCs Will & Grace.
Law & Order: Criminal Intent was the top drama series in basic cable prime for the fourth quarter of 2007 and brought new viewers to USA, more than doubling the Thursday 10 p.m. time period audience from the same weeks the prior year.
The cast is led by Vincent D'Onofrio (Detective Robert Goren);
Kathryn Erbe (Detective Alexandra Eames); Julianne Nicholson (Detective Megan Wheeler) and Eric Bogosian (Captain Danny Ross).
Law & Order: Criminal Intent differs from the other Law & Order series because it gives more attention to the actions and motives of the criminals, rather than just showing the police and proscecution's side of the case.
