Great Games for Summer Travel

Many families travel during the summer months. No matter where you are going, chances are you will hear on these phrases from your kids: "I'm bored" or "are we there yet?" Some board games are great for travel and can keep kids and the whole family entertained.

Road Trip QuizWiz has a series of travel board games that feature trivia questions in various categories. There is a small magnetic playing board and magnetic playing pieces. Since the playing pawns are small and magnetic, this game might be best suited for families who don't have small children.

Travel auto bingo boards are sold usually in convenience stores, airports, or other locations where travelers frequent. They are fun ways to pass the time. Each person marks off objects on their Bingo board that they see on their trip. To make the game last longer, the player must have a cover all - that is to see every object on their Bingo card to win.

Another take on Bigno is to make your own travel Bingo game. Make a 5 x 5 square of squares and then place locations or landmarks that you will be passing by on your trip. Have the kids keep an eye out for these locations to mark off their Bingo board. Even make it more exciting by quizzing players about the places on the Bingo board.

There are some classic games that have a travel version that makes it easier to play them anywhere. Connect Four, Checker, and Battleship all have a travel version that should be for sale near the board games in local stores.

Magna Doodles, Aqua Doodles, and Color Wonder markers and paper are all great for keeping kids entertained during summer travel. There's no mess to worry about cleaning up. Kids can draw or play games. Tic tac toe, hangman and connect the dots are all games that can be played with any of the systems listed above.

Summer vacation should be a great time for everyone and with travel games the fun can start as soon as you leave the driveway.
