Way to Go, Spencer!

Way to Go, Spencer!
Spencer Truman sure did have it in for Llanview’s Buchanan family, didn’t he? He blamed Asa for his mother’s rough life. He wanted to make the whole family pay for what Asa did--impregnating and then leaving his mother alone to raise the child. He was determined to do anything he could to tear that family apart. In life, though, he was not able accomplish anything more than proving to everyone that his was not the son of Asa Buchanan.

In death, though, he may just be able to topple the family.

The moment Miles stated his last name as Laurence, I knew he was related to Mitch. Hearing that he is Mitch’s brother threw me off--I fully expected he would tell Jessica that Mitch was his father. Wouldn’t that be a fun twist to explore??

As it is, no one can think it coincidence that Dr. Truman befriended Miles Laurence. As all of Llanview, with the exception of Miles, can tell you, Spencer never did anything out of the kindness of his heart. After all, how much kindness can be found in a heart of stone?

Taking care of Miles, arranging for him to have reconstructive surgery to look “normal” seems honorable enough. That Miles is related to a man who raped a Buchanan woman, then kidnapped a Buchanan daughter, replaced her with his own daughter, and allowed the Buchanan heiress to grow up in the home of a poor, alcoholic woman shows that Spencer was planning to somehow use Miles.

Sure, the intent of Mitch Laurence was to get his hands on Victor Lord’s money. His animosity toward Clint was mainly a way of getting at that cash--attack Clint, get Viki’s DID to recur, then get Tina Lord to hand over her share of Lord’s money to him. But since he caused grief for the Buchanans, Spencer likely look to him as a hero. Regardless of how Miles was treated by the rest of the Laurence family, Spencer must have figured he could use that connection to his advantage.

There has to be more to the story than just giving his money to Miles. There has to be a deeper, more devious plan in place. I can’t wait to see just what that is.

And with David returning to Llanview, to confess to the murder of his brother, will we finally learn without a doubt who the real long-lost Buchanan child is? This promises to be an interesting spring and summer
