NFL Playoffs: Game Previews
Guest Author - Kori Ellis

Now comes the fun time of the NFL season. With eight teams still alive, we are going to get four really good games this weekend. Even though the home team is favored heavily in each contest, expect at least one big upset this weekend.

Saturday Games - January 12, 2008

Seattle (10-6, 3-5 away)
Green Bay (13-3, 7-1 home)
4:30 PM ET – FOX

In this game, Brett Favre will try to continue his magical season. While Favre will be a big part of this game, whether the Packers win or lose could be more determined by how Ryan Grant plays. If Grant plays well and is able to dominate on the ground for the Packers, Green Bay should be in good shape. If not, Matt Hasselbeck is talented enough to lead the Seahawks to a victory.
PREDICTION: Packers 24, Seahawks 17

Jacksonville (11-5, 5-3 away)
New England (16-0, 8-0 home)

8:00 PM ET - CBS
The Patriots will try to continue their perfect season against the Jaguars. However, the Patriots aren’t getting any favors with this matchup. The Jaguars are probably the best wild card team in the entire NFL and should be able to give the Patriots a run for their money. That said, expect the Patriots to pull away at the end.
PREDICTION: Patriots 31, Jaguars 28

Sunday Games - January 13, 2008

San Diego (11-5, 4-4 away)
Indianapolis (13-3, 6-2 home)

1:00 PM ET - CBS
The Chargers are a very good team and will be a tough test for the Colts. However, the Antonio Gates injury for the Chargers is a huge loss for their team. If Gates can’t go, the Colts will likely be too powerful for the Chargers. With Marvin Harrison returning from injury, expect Peyton Manning to have a big day.
PREDICTION: Colts 34, Chargers 20

New York Giants (10-6, 7-1 away)
Dallas (13-3, 6-2 home)

4:30 PM ET - FOX
The Giants, although their team isn’t the prettiest team in the world, have a real chance to pull an upset this week. On the road in Dallas, the Giants are actually a better road team than they are a home team. Additionally, the Giants are peaking while the Cowboys have slumped as of late. This is shaping up to be a Sunday Night Shocker.
PREDICTION: Giants 17, Cowboys 13
