Awaiting the Moon

Hello, and welcome back! Our weather is still unpleasant and unwintry, darn it. But the bread machine is working hard today, and the house accordingly smells wonderful, and I have two new books to share with you.

Awaiting the Moon Awaiting the Moon (Berkley) by Donna Lea Simpson is up first, with Elizabeth Stanwycke off to Germany from her native England to start a new life in a place filled with superstition and people who may not be what they seem, including Count Nikolas von Wolfram, her new employer. This one sets a very gothic tone to start, and maintains it pretty well for most of the story. As for the 'secret', well, it's not hard to figure that one out early, so the reveal isn't very surprising. All in all, though, this one is pretty good. Not a keeper for me, but not bad. I'm giving it three of Cupid's five arrows.

Lady X's Cowboy Lady X's Cowboy (Leisure) by Zoe Archer is next, with Lady Olivia Xavier in need of some assistance, which comes, handily enough, in the form of an American cowboy, Will Coffin. Will's come to England to search for his family; Olivia needs help in staving off a foe; seems as if they can help each other out nicely. As long as they can remember they're from different worlds, that is. This one is cute and sweet, nothing too heavy in the reading, so if you're looking for a light, quick read, this one might be right up your alley. This one also earns three arrows.

Until next time, happy reading!
