How to Stop Abortions Now! Dr. George Tiller, a doctor who performed abortions was shot and killed May 31, 2009 while in church in Wichita, Kansas. Dr. Tiller previously survived gun shots in both arms on August 19, 1993, by Shelley Shannon according to Wikipedia. Although Dr. Tiller is dead, the debate between those who believe in pro-choice and pro-life continues. I have devised a simplistic, reasonable plan that can be used immediately to stop abortions now. 1. Eliminate poverty for everyone. Let’s make sure that any woman who discovers that she is pregnant will never ever have to worry about how her child will eat, where she will sleep, or affordable, safe child care for her to go to work and /or school. 1 a. Additionally, we will make sure that society changes its perceptions about women in general who receive public assistance by not looking down upon them as lazy, trivalent welfare mothers for collecting food stamps to feed their children. 2. All current and potential sexual predators must immediately stop raping, molesting and sexually abusing boys and girls in any manner. Studies show that boys who are sexually abused are more likely to grow up and sexually abuse other people. Not all, but most women, choose not to be a reproductive host for a man who has physically or sexually abused her. 3. Stop incest. Many women are sexually victimized by the males in their family. If a woman has a baby by a blood relative this increases the chances of her having a baby with multiple birth defects due to the recessive genes becoming dominant. 4. Teach boys from a young age, that real women; unlike the images of risqué women in the music videos, nude models in male magazines or the women in porn films—they get pregnant. And if these real women get pregnant, inside of her body develops a fetus that grows into a baby that needs more than child support to survive. Inform boys that the act of intimacy can produce another human being who needs to be fed, who needs clothes, housing, and who needs to be educated and loved to live a happy productive life. 5. Teach boys and girls that engaging in an intimate relationship with another human being means that there may be unplanned consequences such-- as the woman becoming pregnant. Before men and women engage in sex they should discuss how they plan to nurture and financially support a baby who can become a productive citizen with high self-esteem loved by both parents-- just in case the condom breaks. 6. Let’s teach women that stretch marks, sagging breasts, and stomach pouches from having a baby is beautiful and that her body is to be cherished and honored for bringing forth the beauty of life. 7. All people who are involved in illicit romantic affairs should stop immediately and question the type of lifestyle that their child would enjoy being born under such hypocritical and complex conditions. 8. Let’s teach women that reproductive rights equal reproductive responsibility. This means that if she gets pregnant-- she alone will carry the burden of carrying a baby full-term. Even though both men and women engage in sexual relations the woman will pay the highest emotional, psychological, spiritual, and physical price rather she chooses to have an abortion or have the baby. The man will always have a real choice— to pay child support or remain in the relationship with the mother and help raise the baby by waking up for 3 am feedings, changing diapers, and giving the baby a bath. 9. Let’s make sure that an abundance of adoptive homes are available for non-white infants and ensure that every child that is currently alive has a loving home, is well-nourished, and properly educated. Life is not about what we are against—life is about what we stand for and how we treat others. | Related Articles | Previous Features | Site Map
