The Trend of Jennifer Aniston

Guest Author - Lynne Chapman

Jennifer Aniston began setting the style trend and is still remembered for the "Friends haircut". When she appeared with this style, women of all ages flocked to the salons wanting the look.

With its feminine face-framing layers and fullness in the crown, the style had lasting appeal is still very popular since it can be worn by many women. It is especially well suited for those who want length in their hair but who need the softness around the face. Ms Aniston's more recent long, straight and smooth style is equally attractive and flattering to Jennifer although not as adaptable to everyone.

If having a Jennifer Aniston Look is your dream, the following suggestions may be helpful.

The Cut:
In the Friends Style, the top layers are extended to about the chin. The bangs are at another level, long and to the side, with the ends reaching to just below the cheekbone.. The lower layers graduate down to the shoulders, allowing for a soft closeness around the neck.

The layers of the longer style start at about chin level and extend to below the shoulders. These layers graduate down to the ends for a closer feeling toward the bottom without causing a thin or stringy appearance.

The Styling:
After receiving the haircut of your choice, you will need to use styling mousse or gel formulated for your hair texture. For fine hair a volumizing product while for heavy hair, a gel with enough strength to hold the fullness, and for frizzy hair, a smoothing product to get a smooth controlled look. In all cases, finish with a light, flexible hold hair spray.
(Try LC Legacy Styling Foam for fine hair and Styling Glaze for medium to coarse. Root Lifter adds lift and staying power to any style.)

For the "Friends" cut, blow dry using a large round brush. Finish by placing a few large Velcro rollers in the crown for fullness.

For the longer looks, blow dry using a paddle brush for the ultra-straight smooth look and finish with a large round brush on the ends to create a soft curve. A little back-combing in the crown will give you the small amount of fullness that is needed.

The Color:
Ms. Aniston's awesome highlights can be achieved with a creative color weaving technique. A very fine uneven weaving is performed all over. This uneven weaving produces a very natural look with a combination of tiny strands and slightly larger strands intermingled with no apparent pattern. The sun-kissed effect is finished with a few larger strands strategically placed to cause the appearance of blonde sun streaks. These are most effectively placed in the front, framing the face.

So to be a trend-setter in your own right, incorporating a few of these suggestions in your look could be an excellent choice.
