Alice In Wonderland Unbirthday

Alice In Wonderland Unbirthday
Throw a special Alice In Wonderland Unbirthday party using the following tips.

The Invitation:

Print out date, time, location of party on your computer in crazy font on white cardstock. Using oversize playing cards, cut out to fit size and sandwich between two cards. Punch hole in cards and invite and tie together with a piece of ribbon. Using same font print "open me" on envelopes and place invitations inside. Hand deliver or write addresses on in calligraphy. Let guests know what kind of party this will be, and ask them to dress in their silliest outfits.

The Decoration:

Use bright colors to decorate. Use either a red/black/white or a blue/pink/yellow/lime color scheme. The following tips are based on a red/black/white them, but could be altered to fit either.

Centerpieces

What you need:

3 teacups in white or black
18 craft store roses half red, half white
red paint and brush
large playing cards

Instructions:

Cut flowers apart if in bundles so they will fit into cups. Use paintbrush to messily apply red paint to white rose tips and some petals. Let Dry.

Stick an equal amount of flowers in each cup. Place a few playing cards in each cup between the flowers. Display in center of table or on entryway tables.

Other decorating tips:

-Make signs that say "this way" "that way" "wrong way" "the other way" etc and hang them around the house.
-Bunch several chinese lanterns above the dining table at various heights.
-Place different size chairs in various heights around the table (if you have them). If available use a recliner or other large chair at the head of the table, draped in a silky fabric (which will double as protection from spills)
-Draw & cut out characters from the books and place around party area.
-Use tea set to serve beverages or a whimsical pitcher. Write "Drink me" on decorative tags and using twine or ribbon, tie to all tea cups, bottles, or pitchers that will be used.
-Make place cards with the names of everyone in attendance either spelled backwards or printed upside down.
-If decorating the outside of the party area, use a balloon arch with black/red balloons to resemble going down the rabbit hole.

The Games:

-Flamingo Croquet (play traditional croquet and position flamingos next to the spikes)
-Cookie eating contest: see how many cookies guests can consume in 1 minute
-Flower decorating: give guests a white rose and a red marker and see who can color the most area in 1 minute.
-Tea Cup relay race: place tea cup with tap water in it on your head and race to travel to a check point and back first.

The Food:

-Bake heart shaped cookies and ice them. Write "eat me" on them in different color icings. Place various cookie decorations around the tray in small bowls and let guests decorate their own cookies.
-Pick 3 different cake flavors that go together and make 3 different size cake rounds. Ice individually in different colors and stack together.
-Traditional finger sandwiches or scones
-If serving punch, place two separate kinds side by side and label "shrink" and "grow"

Good luck and have fun!
