When Good Things Happen to Bad Boys

Hello, and welcome back! Mother Nature appears to have changed her mind about spring and is leaving us freezing here, with cold temps and brisk wind. I hope my daffodils don't freeze, too. Fortunately, I'm indoors where it's plenty warm, and warmer yet with one of this week's books.

When Good Things Happen to Bad Boys When Good Things Happen to Bad Boys (Brava) has stories by Lori Foster, Erin McCarthy, and HelenKay Dimon. When you pick up a 'Bad Boys' anthology, you're almost always guaranteed a good, steamy read, and I'm pleased to say this one didn't disappoint. Lori Foster's 'Playing Doctor' has Axel Dean and Libby Preston unsure just what to do about the heat flaring between them. Libby's got no time for serious relationships, and Axel has a rule against virgins. Yeah, right, on both accounts. Erin McCarthy's 'Lady of the Lake' has Violet Caruthers rescued from drowning by baseball star Dylan Diaz, and finding that maybe she can still have her baby wish come true. And in newcomer HelenKay Dimon's 'Hardhats and Silk Stockings', Hannah Bridges and Whit Thomas are completely wrong for one another, she just knows it. She also knows Whit is just about the sexiest man alive, and getting trapped in a sexy room with him could be fun. For a while. I'm a big fan of Foster and McCarthy, so I'm happy their stories were so much fun. I think I'd have liked the last story more if Hannah's reasons for pushing Whit away were a bit more believable. All in all, though, this is an anthology 'Bad Boys' fans will want to snag for their collections. It's earned three and a half arrows.

Deep Breath Deep Breath (Brava) by Alison Kent is next, with Georgia McLain forced to locate the one thing she wants to find--a document that could clear her late father's name--but for a very different reason than her own. Harry van Zandt was tailing Georgia for reasons of his own, but now he's got to help her in her mission to save a diner full of innocent people. As seems to be the case in Ms. Kent's books (the ones I've read, that is), there's lots of suspense here, with some steamy sex tossed in, but not nearly enough romance to suit me. If you want adventure, you'll probably disagree with me on this one, but I didn't find it a keeper. I'm giving it only two and a half arrows.

Until next time, happy reading!
