Attending Personal Appearances

If you’ve ever had the desire to meet your favorite soap star in person, attending an individual or group personal appearance is the ticket for you. There are many types of events to choose from, ranging from a small question & answer event, to a larger soap fan club event, to even an organized cruise with your favorites.

ABC soap fans have the opportunity to see about 30 of their daytime actors in the biggest soap weekend event out there - Super Soap Weekend. SSW is held every November (this year it’s November 15-16) at Walt Disney Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida. Beware, this event isn’t for the faint-hearted as it usually attracts over 25,000 people a day. If you don’t mind large crowds and lots of screaming fans, then this is the place for you.

Besides the opportunity to get autographs and pictures, the fans are treated to motorcades, game shows and special question and answer sessions. Each evening culminates in a “Street Jam” performance by the many talented soap actors who also are singers, dancers, and musicians. The official list of the actors attending this year hasn’t been released yet, but check the folloing website for details as they are announced:

Another option for quality time with your favorite actor is a soap cruise. Three such cruises are planned and on sale now:

Rick Springfield (Noah, GH) and Friends Cruise: http://rickspringfield.com/full/rsmain.html

Soap Cruise, hosted by Cameron Mathison (Ryan, AMC):

Rock the Soap Cruise, hosted by Bob Guiney:

If you’d rather a more intimate setting for your event, many actors do personal appearances across the country at comedy clubs, hotels and yes, even at Walmart. These events usually consist of question and answer time, autographs and pictures.

Some upcoming General Hospital events include: Kelly Monaco (Sam), Greg Vaughan (Lucky), Jason Thompson (Patrick), Bradford Anderson (Spinelli), Brandon Barash (Johnny), and Julie Marie Berman (Lulu). Check out the GH Fan Club website for a complete list and specific details for these events: http://ghfanclub.com/ghevents.html.

One Life to Live actors Farah Fath (Gigi), John-Paul Levoisier (Rex), and Kamar de los Reyes (Antonio) also have upcoming events. The website below will give you more details:
