The 2008 15th Annual Honda Hoot rally will take place June 18th through the 21st in Knoxville, TN. The Honda Hoot rally first took place in 1994 and is held every year in Knoxville, Tennessee. One of the key points that distinguish the Honda Hoot rally from other rallies is that any make or model of motorcycle is welcome to attend and you don't have to be a member of the Honda Rider's Club of America (HRCA). What a great way to get introduced to the sport and spirit of motorcycling.
The Southeast Tourism Society has designated the Honda Hoot motorcycle rally as one of the top events in the southeast region. The Honda Hoot rally has rides for every type of rider through the scenic roads of Tennessee. Most rallies have a headliner for entertainment and this is no exception. The 2008 Honda Hoot rally has booked Wynonna Judd, a famous country singer, who coincidentally is from that part of the country, who will be performing a special concert for registered Hoot attendees in the closing ceremonies.
Because the Honda Hoot rally is held in the same place each year it allows for scheduling of some great rides for attendees. A few of the scheduled rides are the Cherohala Scenic Skyway Ride, Cumberland Gap Ride, Capes and Caverns Ride, Best Dam Ride and Fish Fry, and the Ghost Town in the Sky Ride. There are events for the entire family such as discounted ticket prices for the Knoxville Zoo, Dixie Stampede, Dollywood, Black Bear Jamboree, Breakfast and River Cruise on the Star of Knoxville, Wonderworks, and White Water Rafting. They even sponsor a poker run that benefits the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. If you didn't want to do anything that was scheduled, with the many options in Knoxville for riding, you can wing it on your own. With this many options, choices could be difficult.
Frankly, I am impressed. Beautiful, scenic rides, many alternatives for the entire family, and you can ride in on any bike. Did I mention the low registration fee of less than $60. I don't own a Honda but it sure makes me want to go down and see what the "Hooting" is all about.
Until next week, ride safe.
