For about ten years now, E. Lynn Harris has charmed and wowed millions of readers. E. Lynn Harris is a master story teller and in his novels he creates a world centered on love, family and friendship. Millions of readers love his characters and the life he breathes into them.

The beloved author, E. Lynn Harris was born in Flint, Michigan. He was raised with his three sisters in the city of Little Rock in Arkansas. When he graduated high school he went on to attend the University of Arkansas. He found much success at the university. He became the first black editor of the yearbook. He also became a member of the Razorbacks cheerleading squad. He was the first black male cheerleader of the squad.

Harris graduated with honors and left the University of Arkansas with a journalism degree but he did not begin working in his field right away. Instead Harris worked as a computer salesman Hewlett-Packard, IBM and AT&T. He worked for these companies for many years while living between Atlanta, Dallas and Washington, D.C.

Harris was able to quit his job after he penned “Invisible Life”, his first novel. Harris could not find a publisher for his novel so he self-published in 1991 and sold the books from the trunk of his car. He sold the book to mostly black owned beauty salons, book clubs and black-owned bookstores. His talent was discovered in 1994 by Anchor Books and the company published the novel as a trade paperback. His career as a writer had begun.

E. Lynn Harris has published many great novels since that time including Just As I Am, which won the Blackboard Novel of the year award, and “If This World Were Mine” which won the James Baldwin Award of Literary Excellence. Five of his books have been on the New York Times best seller list.

Known for bringing his readers passionate novels, he was just as passionate when he penned his memoirs “What Becomes of the Brokenhearted?” As an openly gay African American author he has a lot to say about his childhood as a closeted gay boy. He also writes about his struggles as a self publisher and his eventual success as a bestselling author. His story is inspirational as he talks about overcoming depression and loneliness and becoming triumphant and making his dreams come true.

E. Lynn Harris is an author who is defiantly making his mark on the literary world. His latest work “Just Too Good To Be True”, a novel about family, football and secrets is currently available.
