Dangerous Romance

Guest Author - Elizabeth Darrach

Hello, and welcome back! I hope some of you are planning to join our May Book Club Discussion over in the forum next week (5/23/06). We'll be discussing Maggie Shayne's Darker than Midnight Darker than Midnight. You do need to register to participate in all forum discussions, but registration is free, so I hope to see you there! In the meantime, I have another late arrival May release, as well as an upcoming June book to share with you.

The Marcelli Bride (Marcelli Sisters of Pleasure Road #4) The Marcelli Bride (Marcelli Sisters of Pleasure Road #4) (Pocket Star) by Susan Mallery is up first. Joe Larson may be a Marcelli by birth, but that doesn't mean he wants to really be a part of the family, no matter how they feel about it, but when Darcy Jensen is kidnapped, mistaken for her sister, he's forced to spend some time at the family winery with her. And I do mean 'family'. There's a lot of family in this one, sometimes too much. There's also an awful lot of page time, especially early on, for a secondary couple. I wanted to like this one more than I did, but the things cited above really got in my way. Perhaps, if you've read the previous three books in the series, you'll feel differently. Or maybe you'll want to track them down before you read this one, just so you can keep everyone straight. It's earned only three of Cupid's five arrows.

Shadow of the Moon Shadow of the Moon (Berkley) by Rebecca York is next, with her continuing werewolf series. This time, Lance Marshall is on the hunt for a story at a Washington, D. C. sex club when Savannah Carpenter gets into trouble, doing some hunting of her own, trying to discover what really happened to her sister. This one is rather more jarring for me than even the previous stories, what with the energy-sucking alien in the basement and all. It's got plenty of steam, but if you haven't been a fan of the preceding books, you might want to skip this one, too. It gets only two arrows, I'm afraid.

Until next time, happy reading!
