The Marriage Spell

The Marriage Spell
Hello, and welcome back! Things here are all topsy-turvy, schedule-wise, between baseball, additional work hours and the demands of the spring gardens. I'm hoping the schedule will settle down again in the next week or two. It's not doing anything good for my writing routine either at the moment. If you missed the last newsletter, you missed the announcement of our June Book Club Selection. In the meantime, however, I do have two new books to share with you this time out.

The Marriage Spell The Marriage Spell (Ballantine) by Mary Jo Putney has Lord Frayne, aka Jack Langdon, brought near death to healer Abby Barton, who's been drawn to him for a long time. Healing his mortal injuries, however, is beyond her skill as a healer, so she brings in a group of wizard friends to assist her in saving his life. Set in a world where the upper classes don't practice any magic, Abby and Jack have much to overcome before they can reach their happy ending, no matter how long Abby has wanted him. This one isn't a quickly-paced read, but it is compelling, and Abby is a strong, very admirable heroine. I enjoyed this one very much. It's earned four of Cupid's five arrows.

Squeeze Play Squeeze Play (Love Spell) by Kate Angell may be a good one for baseball fans looking for something light but steamy. Risk Kincaid and Jacy Grayson have been on-again, off-again lovers ever since high school, but Risk has made up his mind to have Jacy as his forever, and he's got the off-season to work on her. Jacy's wanted more than occasional sex with Risk for a long time, too, but figures he's not looking for permanent, so she lets him believe he's still her 'rebound man'. This one is uncomplicated and hot, but there are two secondary couples who get a fair bit of page-space in this one, making me wish for more Risk and Jacy instead. Still, it's a quick read. It gets three and a half arrows.

Until next time, happy reading!
