EcoFluxx

Fluxx is a favorite card game of mine for playing with friends. The game is easy to teach to a group of people. Looney Labs, the makers of Fluxx, has added to the Fluxx family EcoFluxx. EcoFluxx takes an ecological theme to this addictive card game. Looney Labs is also donating a portion of the sales of EcoFluxx to environmental groups.

This compact game is easy to play anywhere and everywhere. There are no long drawn out rules to read. The beginning rules fit onto one playing size card. I say beginning rules because the rules will change during ecoFluxx. It's this dynamic that keeps this game fresh and new everytime it is played.

To begin play, each person is dealt three cards. The rest of the deck is placed in the center of the table along with the basic rules card. The basic rules state the a player must draw 1 card and play 1 card.

Choose who will begin the game. That person draws a card. They now have four cards in their hand and must play one of them. The cards are either keepers, new rules, goals, or actions.

Keepers are object cards that are played in front of you. EcoFluxx features keeper cards that deal with nature so there are keeper cards like water, air, sunshine, and bears. Keeper cards are the cards that will help you win the game.

New Rules are played in the center of the table next to the basic rules. A new rule might read that players now draw 5 cards or play 3 cards. A new rule might also limit the number of keepers in your control or a player's handsize.

Goals are cards that state what condition will currently win the game. A new goal can be played at anytime and only the current goal counts as a way to win the game. An example of a goal is mud, so the person with dirt and water wins. Another example is birds eat worms so whomever has birds and if insects are in play wins. They do not have to control the worms to win.

Actions are cards that are played and then discarded. An example of an action card is switch one keeper with another player or trash all rules.

EcoFluxx is fast paced and takes no setup time. You'll be playing EcoFluxx like a pro on the first game you ever play. All you need to know about the cards is printed on them. No long, drawn out rules to read for EcoFluxx. It's portable as all the cards are in on deck that will fit into your hand.

EcoFluxx cards can be mixed together with the original Fluxx cards for even more card fun.
