Tip of the Month - Days and months are...

Masculine? Days and months??

Yes, that simple. You just have to remember that, in Spanish, both, names of months and days of the week are always used in masculine, so, if necessary, they will be used with the corresponding masculine article (el - un - los - unos) or adjective in masculine form.

Of course, here we have the list:
(You can click on them to read more about each word [meaning/s, expressions, idioms...] and to listen to its pronunciation)

Días de la semana:

- Lunes (Monday)
- Martes (Tuesday)
- Miércoles (Wednesday)
- Jueves (Thursday)
- Viernes (Friday)
- Sábado (Saturday)
- Domingo (Sunday)
  Meses del año:

- Enero (January)
- Febrero (February)
- Marzo (March)
- Abril (April)
- Mayo (May)
- Junio (June)

- Julio (July)
- Agosto (August)
- Septiembre (September)
- Octubre (October)
- Noviembre (November)
- Diciembre (December)

Algunos ejemplos (Some examples):

- El próximo lunes (Next Monday)
[Note that in Spanish we use the article (el, in this case). So we don't say "próximo lunes" but "el próximo lunes"]

- El domingo próximo (Next Sunday)
[You can see now "próximo" after the name of the day. Note that we can place "próximo" either before or after the name of the day, without changing the meaning.]

- Abril es un mes de primavera.(April is a spring month.)

- Vamos a tu casa en diciembre.(We are going to your house in December.)
[Have you noticed I haven't used capital letters with days of the week and months? In Spanish it's not necessary.]

- Visitamos el museo en el mes de mayo. (We visited the museum in May.)

Recommended material:
You can find below some materials / web pages that, from my point of view, can be useful and interesting:

Puerta del Sol - Audio Magazine A very interesting way of learning or reviewing not just Spanish grammar and vocabulary, but also a great way to find out about Spain and its culture.

Lo más TV Such a funny, intelligent and useful way to learn and enjoy the Spanish language!! It is a web based activity and offers new videos on a weekly basis. By clicking on any of them you'll be taken to a new page were you can chose between dial-up or broadband. The load is fast, and in few seconds you will be watching and listening to the video.

Visual Link Spanish™ - Just click, listen and repeat! Don't just learn Spanish; put it into practice with a unique guided, step-by-step system. I've tested it and I wish I'd had something similar when I studied English!!
