Ponytails - a Back To School Time Saver

It’s Back To School for many of you. This means sticking to a new, more disciplined schedule, perhaps getting up earlier and out of the house sooner than you have been used to. Attending class also means having a little more style and being more put-together. You will want to spend more time on your hair than you did during the summer, so that it will look just right for class. However, there will be some mornings when there won’t be enough time between getting out of bed and heading off to class to bother with the shampoo, blow dry and curling.

For those hurried, behind schedule days, I have a few ideas for a stylish look.
Fortunately, this season, simple styles are in and even the ponytail can be trendy and requires very little prep-time. The important thing to remember, in each of the following variations, is that it is the finish that makes the style. You will need the right products on hand to create a finished look so make sure to shop in advance. In each variation, use pomade, hair serum, wax, or spray wax to slick down any stray hairs around your face and to add lots of shine. Rub the product into your hands (even the spray wax) and then smooth your hands over your hair. Use a small amount on the ponytail itself to control any frizzy ends.

Variation 1.

Either, slick all the hair straight back from your face for a traditional ponytail or create a side bang by parting off a small section at the side and smoothing it over the finished ponytail and clipping it with a small barrette, allowing the ends to curl around slightly.

Variation 2.

If your hair is long enough in front, you can smooth the bang area to the side and wrap the ends around the base of the ponytail.
