Are you inviting a group of friends over and need a versatile party game? Catch Phrase is a great crowd pleaser. It is fun and fast paced. Take your seat, and you are ready to play. Two teams play against each other in a race to score seven points. Because there is no limit to the number of players on each team, Catch Phrase is a fine choice for a large group.
The game is made up of one electronic set that keeps score, times the round, and displays the word or phrase. The set is passed around to players, alternating between teams. When time runs out, the buzzer will sound. The team that does not have possession of the Catch Phrase game earns one point. The team that just earned one point gets one guess at the word or phrase that the other team did not guess. A correct answer will earn the team another point.
Catch Phrase features 10,000 popular phrases from a variety of subjects from sports to geography to entertainment. The game is recommended for those 14 and over. If a phrase is unrecognized by the player, then he/she can skip it and go to the next word or phrase. There is no official penalty for passing on words or phrases. Just remember that each round is timed, and the longer you have the game piece the more likely the other team will score a point.
Playing Catch Phrase can be addicting. It is hard to stop playing. Replay value of this game is great since there are so many phrases. Repeats can happen, but they are very rare during a game. If you play several games in a row then it's likely that you will see some word/phrases. When a word/phrase reappears during a game session, you can pass that word.
Catch Phrase is easy to learn and is good for large groups. With only one game piece, Catch Phrase requires little setup and no tabletop space. This makes it fun to play indoors or outdoors. It offers a lot of flexibility to players since they can easily move around during the game. Catch Phrase really helps to liven up a party since it engages people. Catch Phrase makes for a fun game night.
I played Catch Phrase with friends who bought the game. All opinions are 100% mine.
