You Don't Know Jack

Hello, and welcome back! I'm about to fire up the soup pot shortly, and the printer has been busy most of the day with my husband's annual fall mailing while I'm preparing to install the new computer. So much for days off. But, before I started on all the current projects, I finished reading the October releases on my desk and started on the November books (Kresley Cole's new one included!), and those last two October books are here now.

Reason to Believe: A Novel of Magical Temptation Reason to Believe: A Novel of Magical Temptation (Zebra) by Jessica Inclan is up first with the second of her Croyant novels. This time Fabia Fair takes in a stranger off the street who doesn't remember who he is, or how he got to Edinburgh. Rufus Valasay doesn't realize he has special abilities, only that Fabia is a very special woman. Unlike the previous tale, Fabia is also magically gifted, so having her believe in his skills isn't as difficult. What I found incredible (and I don't mean this in a good way) was her taking him in in the first place, knowing nothing about him. I'm afraid this is one magical world I just can't buy into.

You Don't Know Jack
You Don't Know Jack
(Brava) by Erin McCarthy is next. Jamie Peters has a thing for helping people. Jack Davidson is helping Jamie by keeping an eye on her, he just can't tell her that. So when she crashes into him on the subway while he's tailing her, it seems fortuitous. Not to mention that he discovers just how attracted to her he is, and it seems the feeling is mutual. At least, until she discovers his true identity. As always with a McCarthy romance, you're going to get a lot of laughs along with your sexy, steamy romance. This one doesn't disappoint in either of those areas, and it's a definite keeper. It's got plenty of romance, and it's a pity Jack isn't real. This one gets four of Cupid's five arrows.

Anyone in southern/south-central Pennsylvania next weekend, please stop by the Waldenbooks at Park City Center in Lancaster, PA Saturday, October 28, 2006 from 2 - 4 p.m. Romance authors Maggie Shayne, Mariah Stewart, Terri Brisbin, Elizabeth Keys, and Diana Holquist will be signing with us. If anyone needs further info, drop me an email.

And until next time, happy reading!
