The New England Travel Holiday Gift Guide - 2007

The New England Travel Holiday Gift Guide - 2007
‘Tis the season! Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah or Kwanza, chances are, you still have a few gifts to buy. If you didn’t finish all of your holiday shopping on Black Friday, here’s some ideas for the New England fan on your list - or some ideas to put on your own list!

Books

Who can resist a good book? Here are a few of my favorites:

A Moose for Jessica by Pat A. Wakefield and Larry Carrara is a charming true story that takes place in Shrewsbury, VT. A male moose wanders onto the Carrara farm and takes a shine to a chubby Hereford heifer named Jessica. The moose hung around for 76 days, and became a local celebrity. Photos by Larry Carrara beautifully illustrate the story.

Road Trip New England is an excellent book to take with you on your new England travels. If you like small towns, offbeat attractions and out-of-the-way sidetrips, you’ll love this book.

Road Trip USA: New England

For antiquing buffs, the book Vermont Antiquing: Seven Day Trips by Lisa Mullenneaux contains seven one-day itineraries for shopping trips throughout Vermont.

Live Your Road Trip Dream

The subtitle for Live Your Roadtrip Dream by Phil and Carol White is Travel for a year for the cost of staying home. I’ve just started this book, but so far it is full of practical information about spending a year on the road.

Travel

The Entertainment Book is the ultimate money-saving gift. Save with coupons on fine-dining, fast food, and services like dry-cleaning, haircuts, and car rentals. You’ll also find deals on hotel stays, cruises and airfare. I buy one for my area every year, and I often buy them for gifts.

Get $5 off and free shipping on any 2007 book purchase! Discounts on dining, hotels, and fun!

Posters

Bring a piece of New England into your home with a poster from Art.com. Pick your fave, then preview it with different frames. Have Art.com frame it and save. (Hint: Art.com also has a wishlist feature - make a list, then pass it on to Santa!)

Magazines

Yankee magazine bills itself as the Magazine of New England Living. I’ve been a fan for years. Recipes, profiles, and excellent articles about New England Life.

Vermont Magazine

Whatever your holiday, I wish you peace, joy, and a happy New England kind of celebration.
