Color Trends for 2007

Guest Author - Connie Krochmal

Nothing remains the same year after year, and that goes for color as well as other consumer trends. For 2007, color experts have come up with their predictions for the New Year.

Fashion plays a pivotal role in introducing new colors. However, whatever is seen on the runway will ultimately have an effect on home décor as well, which is where floral design enters the picture. As part of the home decorating scheme, floral arrangements fall within this category and are similarly affected by the trends.

There are various ways these colors can be used in floral designs. It can be from the flowers and greens as well as the containers or wraps as well as the ribbons and bows.

In general, extreme colors enjoy a brief burst of popularity to be replaced by more down-to-earth tones.

There are several factors that color trends take into account. Among these are the lightness or darkness as well as the intensity of a given color.

Blue remains popular among people of all ages. Within the last decade or so, it was used to signify youth. Yet, at the same time folks 55 and over also by and large developed a preference for blue as well. For 2007, we’ll see various kinds of blue. For example, sky blue should be one of the most popular as well as the water-borne blues.

Black will be around for at least a couple more years. This has remained one of the most popular fashion colors for at least a decade.

In home décor, the earth tones will continue to be popular. We can expect to see various hues of browns, tans, and beige. These will seem brighter when they are paired with rusty hues of orange and red. For 2007, there are several new earth tone colors, including Café Crème.

For some years, colors that are named after foods or flavors have been big hits. This will continue in 2007 with some of the culinary-inspired ones being golden apricot, grapemint, melon, orange, strawberry ice, and cappuchino brown.

Shades inspired by plants will include poppy red, vibrant rose, silver peony, and tarragon.

For 2007, glistening colors will be particularly plentiful. Among these are Greensheen, silvery blue, metallic gray, frosty almond, copper, metallic silver, and mahogany silvered mink.

Various greens that will be in the limelight include opaline green, emerald green.

Other colors that are expected to be big hits are bright white, ultra violet, elegant purples, pale gold, and rustic khaki.
