One Life to Live Celebrates 40 Years

One Life to Live Celebrates 40 Years
One Life to Live, created by soap icon Agnes Nixon, has been on the air since 1968 and is celebrating their rich 40 year history with some special shows this week. If you haven't noticed lately, OLTL is definitely on an upswing with both their storytelling and the ratings. They also recently garnered two important wins at the Daytime Emmy Awards: Outstanding writing and directing in a drama series.

It’s been a long time since I’ve felt a “wow” factor with any ABC soap opera, but One Life to Live is pulling out all the stops while honoring their anniversary. Below are a few of the highlights from the show this past week. Don’t miss the two-part anniversary shows that will bring back some fan favorites…the shows will air on July 21 and July 22.

Tess & Nash: Jessica’s less-than-nice alter personality, Tess, is back and looking for revenge on all those who contributed to Nash’s death. More specifically, revenge on Jared and Natalie. She’s already had a failed attempt of poisoning them, but with visions of Nash spurring her on, who knows what she’ll do next.

Viki & Dorian: You can’t have an anniversary celebration without these two women and their ongoing feud/rivalry. While heading out to the vineyard in Natalie’s car, Viki sees a figure in the road and tries to stop, but the brakes start slipping (Jessica’s handiwork again). Luckily for Dorian, she is able to stop in time. Back on the road, the two women get in a heated discussion about Charlie. When Viki attempts to avoid something in the road, this time the brakes do fail and the car crashes…and the audience is told that Viki is dead!

Asa Buchanan: Bo Buchanan never fully recovered from the death of his father, Asa, so having visions of him is not a good thing. Asa appears to Bo at the stables of the Buchanan ranch and proceeds to tell Bo, “you are a drunken bum” and that he will never compare to his brother, Clint. Angry and upset, Bo attempts to take one of the horses, but Rex arrives and stops him. Later when Bo grabs a fence, both he and Rex are struck by lightening and electrocuted.

Mendorra: Having escaped from prison, the evil Carlo Hesser is back once again. This time, he’s in Mendorra with Tina and the crown jewels. In another twist, it turns out that Antonio’s love interest, Talia, is none other than Carlo’s daughter. There’s definitely no love lost between these two families so this could get very interesting.
