Grey's Anatomy Spin-off Comes to ABC this Fall
Guest Author - Josie Chapman

Grey’s Anatomy fans are rejoicing with the announcement of the new spin-off called Private Practice. The show will center on Grey’s character Dr. Addison Montgomery and several other practitioners working together at the Oceanside Wellness Group. With a new sun-filled location, Private Practice will still focus on what makes Grey’s Anatomy great, the emotional life choices and moments of the individual characters.

With Addison’s recent relationship turmoil, she takes a trip to Santa Monica to see her friend Naomi, who happens to be a fertility specialist. Trying to find purpose, Addison’s new goal is to have a baby. Unfortunately, she quickly finds out that she is infertile and not capable of having children. Devastated, Addison realizes that moving out to Santa Monica to join her friends at the Oceanside Wellness Group may be exactly what her life needs right now.

Though Addison might not realize it yet, she will fit right in with the rest of the group . Her college friend Dr. Naomi Bennet, recently became divorced to her co-worker Jackson and together they share a 14 year old daughter. Dr. Pete Finch is the alternative medicine practitioner who copes though his grief of being a widower by having a series of one-night stands. (The last causing the previous neonatal specialist to leave) The group’s psychiatrist, Dr. Violet Turner, currently doubts that any of her techniques actually work. And, Dr. Cooper Freedman, the gynecologist who is afraid of rejection, currently is trying his hand at meeting women on the internet. His last rendezvous ended with his date stealing his car the following morning. With such an interesting core group of characters, the show is definitely set up to continue the success generated by Grey’s Anatimony.

Private Practice will join several other new shows in the ABC’s fall line-up: Pushing Daisies, a show featuring a special detective who is able to bring murder victims briefly back to life, Cavemen, featuring the daily trials of the cavemen in the popular Geico commercials, and Sam I Am, a comedy about a girl who recently finds herself with amnesia. Though the fate of these and other new shows won’t be determined until fall, it is certain that Grey’s fans will be waiting with baited breath. This time the excitement will not only center on our favorite Seattle Grace interns, but also now Dr. Addison Montgomery and her fellow practitioners at the Oceanside Wellness Center.
