Froggie Boogie

Ages 4 and up

Players 2 to 5

Playing time 15 minutes

Froggie Boogie is a game that features baby frogs trying to dance around the lily pads but they have to behave as long as their parents have a watchful eye on them. The game is a simple fun game that is should be especially fun for pre-schoolers.

Froggie Boogie is an all wooden game from Blue Orange Games. It features 9 color adult two-toned frogs and five solid colored baby frogs. The game also comes with one large lily pad, 12 smaller lily pads, and a set of wooden eyes for each frog. One eye has a picture of a frog and the other is blank. Setting up the playing are by playing the lily pads in a circle and put the adult frogs inside the circle. Place a set of eyes onto each frog.

All baby frogs begin on the large lily pad. The youngest player begins by rolling the two dice that feature colors of the adult frogs. Find the frog that is the color of the two dice. Then choose one of the eyes and reveal the bottom to the group. If it is blank, then the Mama and Daddy frog do not see the baby frog, so the baby frog leaps to the next lily pad. The player rolls again and chooses an eye. As long as it is blank, the advance your baby frog to the next lily pad. When the frog symbol is displayed, then your turn ends and the next person rolls the dice. The first player to make it back to the large lily pad wins the game.

Froggie Boogie is a fun game especially for younger kids. Even though the recommended age is four, younger children with parents' supervision will probably enjoy this one, too. We played this with our almost two year old and with a little help, she would know which frog to choose an eye from and we helped her move her piece around the lily pads. We would cheer when one of our baby frogs could move, which she really enjoyed taking part in. It was a lot of fun to play a game that has all wooden pieces that she can handle without any fear of it breaking or being small pieces that she could easily lose.

Froggie Boogie is a great practice in memory since if a player can remember which eyes are blank, then when they roll that color combination they will be able to go again. It's fun for young kids and can be fun for parents to play a game with their younger children. The all wooden pieces make Froggie Boogie
